Intel Releases Cluster Tools that Deliver Advanced MPI Capabilities
Intel Releases Cluster Tools that Deliver Advanced MPI Capabilities to Supercomputing and Provide New OpenMP Connection to Small Systems
Moonsoft Oy announced the immediate availability of new software development tools that make it easier to create, debug, tune and optimize high-performance applications for clusters: the Intel® Cluster Toolkit 3.0 and Cluster OpenMP* for Intel® compilers. The Intel® Cluster Toolkit 3.0 combines multiple products in an easy to install package, specifically the new releases: Intel® MPI Library 3.0, Intel® MKL Cluster Edition 9.0, and Intel® Trace Analyzer and Collector 7.0.
New products satisfy developer demand for high performance tools
Intel® MPI Library 3.0 greatly reduces the effort to develop, test, and maintain applications that run on clusters with different network configurations and it works with all major resource management tools, performance measurement tools, and debugging tools. The new MPI Library offers dynamic fabric selection, enabling MPI applications to automatically detect the fastest available network at runtime.
Intel® Trace Analyzer and Collector 7.0 is the most advanced MPI performance analysis product on the market today, providing unique insight on MPI traffic to quickly find the communications bottlenecks within a cluster. New features in this release include trace file comparison for analyzing the effects on MPI performance due to code changes, GUI usability improvements, simplified installation, and powerful new aggregation and filtering functions.
Intel® Math Kernel Library (Intel MKL) is extensively used by developers of engineering, scientific and financial applications requiring highly optimized, heavily threaded, mathematical functions. The new 9.0 release offers optimizations for the latest multi-core processors, enhanced cluster FFT performance, C and Fortran FFTW API wrappers, new vector math functions, a new iterative sparse solver, and other usability and feature enhancements. The Cluster Edition of Intel MKL includes ScaLAPACK and distributed memory Fast Fourier Transforms in addition to BLAS, LAPACK, FFTs, Sparse Solvers, Vector Math and other the routines in the standard edition of Intel MKL.
The Cluster OpenMP for Intel compilers is a new offering which extends OpenMP to be applicable to distributed memory machines. Developers can now leverage existing OpenMP code from SMP machines onto clusters, giving a truly flexible programming model spanning SMP machines and clusters. An attractive alternative to complex MPI parallel programming, Cluster OpenMP in the Intel C++ and Fortran compilers for Linux are available today.
Helps users multicore and cluster potential into application performance
The new cluster tools complement Intel compilers and libraries, enabling cluster developers to tune applications for performance gains at both the multicore node and the cluster level. “We came to conclude that we would get much more performance on IA platform with Intel software tools. For each application, the Intel compiler gave us better performance than before, and Intel cluster tools let us know how the cluster system runs and how to improve it,” stated Jinwoo Park, Senior system manger SPCC, University of Seoul, South Korea.
Availability
Beginning November 14, 2006, these cluster software development tools from Intel are available from software resellers worldwide. Prices shown are for single developer seats. Pricing is also available for configurations to suit cluster development team needs. More information is available at www.intel.com/software/products.
